More than 1 in 10 of all deaths in Australia can be attributed in some way to Diabetes, with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people 4 times as likely to have type 2 diabetes, mortality rates are correspondingly high. The need for this information to reach the intended audience is crucial.
The project was created with the focus on First Nations peoples who are disproportionately impacted by diabtetes in Australia, This being a COVID campaign meant that it was time sensitive and needed to have a very specific message as a part of a larger solution.
The design was informed by the artwork created by Waanyi and Kalkadoon artist Keisha Leon, being such an important issue for First Nations communities, it was incredibly important to actively bring the artwork to the forefront wherever possible in the lettering lockup and animation for the TVC.
